Upstream Consulting Experience

+ Risk Assessment & Technical Asset Evaluation (Sudan)

Scope: Asset Evaluation

Summary: our team of consultants carried-out a detailed evaluation of hydrocarbon assets in the Muglad sedimentary basin of the South Kordofan region of Sudan.

The focus of this evaluation was to define opportunity, cost, risks, and upside potential of the assets evaluated. The work included professional data gathering from data room(s), technical analysis including geological mapping, log interpretation of more than 35 wells, and basic production forecasting.

The outcome of this evaluation was a ‘high-level’ report that supported our clients to make the appropriate business & investment decisions concerning this particular asset.

+ Data Room Screening & Due Diligence Study (Angola)

Scope: Data Room Screening/Subsurface Studies & Analysis

Summary: in this project, our client was interested an a ‘Farm-in’ opportunity for an asset in Angola. DC Gruppe consultants arranged, managed, and secured access to an exploration data room, with Angola’s Petroleum Governing Agency (ANPG).

As a result of the initial screening, a subset of the full data was identified and purchased to conduct further analysis and technical evaluation to properly identify the opportunity and risks associated with the asset.

A detailed due diligence study was then carried out by our team of geoscientists and engineers, with focus on resource assessment & reserves verification, technical & commercial risks, and proposed development strategy.

+ Shale Gas/Oil Asset Evaluation (Pakistan)

Scope: Asset Evaluation/Data Room Screening

Summary: key individuals of our consulting team (senior geologist, senior reservoir engineer, and commercial specialist) accompanied the client in the entry and screening of an exploration data room for a shale gas/oil asset located in the Indus Basin, Pakistan.

During this process, our consultants evaluated the available data, identified acreage of highest potential, and provided recommendation on data gathering. Additionally, an executive report was produced highlighting the potential opportunity in the assets evaluated, risk register, and a proposed commercial strategy.

+ Integrated Field Study for Field Development Plan (North Africa)

Scope: Subsurface Studies & Analysis

Summary: our team carried-out a comprehensive integrated field study with the objective of creating a complete field development plan (FDP) and work program & budget for our client.

In this integrated study, a series of technical tasks related to subsurface, facilities & infrastructure, cost & economics, and HSE were completed by our technical team. As an outcome, a detailed evaluation of the client’s asset was delivered, along with all geological & reservoir analyses, seismic interpretations, a static 3D geologic model containing 250+ wells, and several reservoir simulation models that were used for production history matching and forecasts.

+ Reservoir Engineering & Production Optimization Study (North Africa)

Scope: Subsurface Studies & Analysis

Summary: our reservoir and production engineering teams conducted detailed data review and analysis for mature/brown oil field in North Africa. The client’s objective was focused on developing an incremental oil strategy in this naturally declining oil field.

Our engineers performed the following analyses on a 100+ wells:

  • Pressure & temperature analysis

  • Formation tests review

  • Fluid property/PVT analysis

  • Pressure transient analysis (PTA)

  • Decline curve analysis (DCA)

  • SCAL data analysis (for PTA refinement)

  • Well-by-well nodal analysis

  • Metering system gap analysis

  • Flow assurance review and verification

As a result of this detailed study, an effective production optimization plan was created and followed by the client, yielding to more than 20% increase in daily oil production from the field.

+ Subsurface Technical Study (North Africa)

Scope: Subsurface Studies & Analysis

Summary: our G&G consultants completed a subsurface study of a clastic reservoir in a mature oil field in North Africa. The study focused on identifying bypassed oil zone, deeper target zones, and the potential for new/emerging play concepts within the same acreage of the client.

The study covered several aspects of geology, geophysics, and petrophysics. Additionally, a comprehensive QA/QC of all available data was completed, including data clean-up, nomenclature standardization, and the creation of a master reference project.

Seismic interpretation was performed on both 2D-lines, and 3D-volumes, and were then used to produce high quality reservoir property maps and surfaces. The interpreted seismic, geological surfaces, along with the re-processed well logs, were all used as primary inputs to build a detailed high-resolution 3D static model of the primary reservoir target zones.
